KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) announced today that 510 women's softball student-athletes, including Bellevue University's Grace Glotfelty (Bellevue, Neb.) and Kayla Young (Los Lunas, N.M.) have been named Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes.

In order to be nominated by an institution's head coach or sports information director, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved a junior academic status.

The NAIA Scholar-Athlete honor was the first in both of the student-athletes' careers.

With 10 selections, USC Beaufort (S.C.) led the way as six other NAIA member institutions finished with at least eight honorees.

Glotfelty, a sophomore outfielder, is majoring in Criminal Justice/Psychology. Young a senior designated player, is pursuing a degree in Sport Management.

Bellevue finished the 2019 season with a 44-20 overall record and a 23-5 mark in the North Star Athletic Association (NSAA). The Bruins finished second in both the NSAA regular season and post-season tournament, advancing to the NAIA National Tournament for the 10th time in school history.
