BELLEVUE, Neb. -- Junior Erin Sharpe tossed a complete-game two-hit shutout as the Bellevue University softball team defeated visiting Dickinson State University, 2-0, Saturday in a North Star Athletic Association contest at the Lied Activity Center Softball Field.

The second game of the doubleheader was postponed due to frigid temperatures and high winds. The game will be made up at a date to be determined.

Sharpe struck out eight Blue Hawks and walked two, allowing just two hits in seven innings while improving to 11-2 on the season.

Jalen Creech (6-5) suffered the loss, scattering just three hits while allowing one earned run with no walks and five strikeouts in six innings of work.

The Bruins took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the second on a two-base throwing error by DSU catcher Jordan Menke and on a sacrifice fly to left field by Alex Tooley that scored Michaela Miller from third. That proved to be the only runs of the contest.

DSU did threaten in the top of the seventh with Mariah Gamboa's two-out single up the middle. The Bruins, however, ended the game when Sayde Woten threw out pinch runner Julie Knight on an attempted stolen base.

The Bruins will travel to Hastings, Neb. on Wed., April 4 for a 4 p.m. non-conference doubleheader at Hastings College.
