Fisher named as NSAA Pitcher of the Week

MADISON, S.D. -- For the second consecutive week, Bellevue University senior Kelli Fisher (Yutan, Neb.) has been named the North Star Athletic Association's Pitcher of the Week, it was announced by the conference.

Fisher became the NAIA's third 20-game winner this season and helped Bellevue to victories in each of her three appearances. She picked up a save in Friday's 5-2 game one win over Jamestown and earned the victory in Friday's 2-1 game two win, tossing all nine innings and allowing just five hits.

She followed her Friday efforts up with a strong performance on Saturday in which she twirled a complete game, one-hit shutout. She struck out nine in a 3-0 over the Jimmies to clinch a series victory for the Bruins.

For the week Fisher was 2-0 with a save, 0.41 ERA, and 15 strikeouts against 0 walks over 17.0 innings in the circle. Opponents hit just .141 off her and she posted a WHIP of just 0.411.

It's the third time this season that Fisher has earned NSAA Pitcher of the Week honors with the other two selections combing back on Mar. 13 and Apr. 10. For the season she is now 21-3 with a 0.86 ERA and has struck out 137 batters against just 10 walks in 154.0 innings of work.

As a team Bellevue has won 28 of their last 30 games. The Bruins now sit at 36-9 overall on the year and 15-3, two games ahead of Jamestown, in the North Star. BU returns home on Wednesday as they host College of Saint Mary in a double-header at 6 p.m. on First Responder's Night.
