FORT WORTH, Texas -- The Bellevue University softball team split a pair of games Saturday in the final day of competition at the Cowtown Classic. The Bruins opened the day with a 4-3 loss to William Woods University, before wrapping up the tournament with an 8-5 victory over Our Lady of the Lake University.
Bellevue is now 3-2 on the season.
The Bruins will begin conference play next week when they travel to Aberdeen, S.D. on Friday-Saturday, Feb. 17-18. Bellevue will play six NSAA games with doubleheaders against Mayville State, Dickinson State, and Valley City State.

William Woods scored four runs in the final two innings to pull out a come-from-behind 4-3 victory over the Bruins in the opener.
Neither team produced any offense until the bottom of the fifth when Sydney Robertson led off the inning with a double to center field and was driven in by Michaela Miller's infield single to give BU a 1-0 lead. The Bruins added a second run in the inning on an RBI single to right field by Emily Gigax.
The Owls tied the game in the top of the sixth on Hillary Hentges' two-run double to right field.
After two groundouts to start the sixth inning, BU threatened with three-straight walks to load the bases before Bre Logan got out of the jam when Erin Sharpe flew out to shallow center field.
After a triple to deep right center field by Hannah Campbell, the Owls took the lead at 3-2 on a misplayed fly ball by Courtney Schendt in the top of the seventh. WWU extended the advantage to 4-2 on an RBI single to center field by Brailee Schulte.
The Bruins loaded the bases with one out in the bottom of the seventh and scored on a ground-out RBI by Robertson to slice the lead to 4-3. The Owls secured the win when Michaela Miller lined out to third base to end the game.
Kelli Fisher (2-1) suffered the loss, allowing eight hits while striking out six batters in seven innings of work.
Logan earned the win, scattering seven hits with seven walks and seven strikeouts in seven innings in the circle.
Bellevue 8, Our Lady of the Lake 5
Hannah Carter went 3-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored to pace the BU offense to an 8-5 win over Our Lady of the Lake. Sharpe and Emily Miller each finished 2-for-4 with an RBI as BU outhit the Saints, 9-5.
The Bruins got on the board in the bottom of the first with a pair of unearned runs following a fielding error by Saints' center fielder Kimberly Chaves.
The Saints benefitted from four Bruin fielding errors in the top of the third, scoring four runs to take a 4-2 lead.
Bellevue tied the game in the bottom of the third on a solo homer by Sharpe and on a fielding error by OLLU right fielder Ina Trejo.
The Bruins pushed ahead 7-4 in the fourth following RBI singles by Emily Miller and Gigax and a ground-out RBI by Sayde Woten. BU collected five hits in the inning.
An RBI double by Taylor Doege sliced the lead to 7-5 in the top of the fifth frame.
Carter's RBI single to right field extended the Bruin lead to 8-5 in the bottom of the fifth and BU held the Saints scoreless the final two innings to pick up the win.
Fisher (3-1) earned the victory, allowing just one hit while striking out two batters in three innings of work.
