ORANGE CITY, Iowa -- The Bellevue University softball team completed a four-game series sweep over Northwestern (Iowa) College with a pair of wins, 10-0, 3-1, Saturday in non-conference action at Dutch Diamonds.

The Bruins, who have won six-straight games, improved to 12-7-1 with the sweep. NWC fell to 7-11 overall on the season.

Bellevue will travel to Ottawa, Kan. on Wednesday, March 18 for a 2 p.m. doubleheader at Ottawa University.

Game 1: Bellevue 10, Northwestern 0 (6 innings)

Shelby Kindelin and Courtney Schendt both blasted grand slams as the Bruins cruised to the 10-0 win in six innings in the opener.

Kindelin's grand slam in the top of the second broke open a scoreless tie. A solo homer by Ashley Gigax in the top of the third gave the Bruins a 5-0 advantage.

After a bases-loaded hit batsmen increased the lead to 6-0 in the fifth, Schendt's grand slam pushed the BU margin to 10-0.

Kelli Fisher improved to 5-2 on the season, allowing just one hit with no walks and five strikeouts in five innings in the circle.

Three of the Bruins' four hits in the game were home runs and BU drew seven walks in the contest.

Game 2: Bellevue 3, Northwestern 1

Sayde Woten drove in two runs, going 2-for-4 at the plate and Taylor Mohler and Fisher paired up in the circle to give the Bruins the 3-1 win in the nightcap.

Despite 21 combined hits, the two teams managed just four runs total. The two squads left a combined 17 runners stranded in the contest.

A pair of RBI singles from Ashley Gigax and Woten gave the Bruins an early 2-0 advantage in the top of the first.

Woten drove in Emily Gigax with a single to center field in the top of the third to increase the BU lead to 3-0.

An RBI double by Jensen Boger sliced the Bruin lead to 3-1 in the bottom half of the third and gave the Raiders their only run of the day.

Northwestern threatened in the bottom of the seventh after Fisher, who replaced BU starter Mohler in the fifth inning, forced a pair of ground outs, before the Raiders hit three-consecutive two-out singles to load the bases. Dana Hedlund, however, grounded out to the shortstop, securing the 3-1 win for the Bruins.

Mohler (7-4) was credited with the win, while Fisher picked up her first save of the season.
