BELLEVUE, Neb. -- The Bellevue University softball team split its two games Friday evening in the Midlands Collegiate Athletic Conference Crossover at Hall of Fame Fields.

The Bruins opened the day with a 1-0 loss to Oklahoma Wesleyan University before posting a 6-0 win against Central Christian College.

With the split, Bellevue moved to 23-13 overall and 9-3 in MCAC action.

The Bruins will conclude the conference crossover tomorrow with games against 25th-ranked Central Baptist College and Haskell Indian Nations University.

Game 1: Oklahoma Wesleyan 1, Bellevue 0

The opener was dominated by pitching as Bellevue and Oklahoma Wesleyan combined for just five hits and 14 strikeouts.

The Eagles scored the lone run of the contest on Miranda Kiser's RBI single in the third.

BU's best chance to score came in the final inning as the Bruins loaded the bases with just one out, but OKWU starter Jenna Daniel was able to get the final two outs.

Daniel improved to 12-10 and notched six strikeouts in the complete game two-hitter.

Taylor Mohler took the loss despite giving up just three hits and one run. Mohler dropped to 9-7 and recorded eight strikeouts.

Ashley Gigax and Alyssa Matoba registered BU's two hits.

With the win, OKWU improved to 21-20 and 10-3 in the MCAC.

Game 2: Bellevue 6, Central Christian 0

Eight different players tallied at least one hit and Kelli Fisher limited Central Christian to just two hits as Bellevue won, 6-0.

Malloy and Matoba each collected two hits apiece. Matoba also stole two bases and scored twice.

Kelli Fisher improved to 13-3 and struck out five in the complete game two-hit shutout win.

Kristin Burhenne blasted her first career grand slam and Shelby Kindelin added an RBI double down the right field line to give BU a 5-0 lead in the second inning.

The Bruins took a six-run lead in the bottom of the fourth on Katy Shupe's two-out single that scored Matoba from third base.

Cristina Insua (3-12) allowed all six runs on 10 hits in six innings of work for CCC.

The Tigers fell to 10-28 overall and 3-9 in league play with the loss.
