MCAC Standings

YORK, Neb. -- The Bellevue University softball team shut out York College, 11-0 and 1-0, Tuesday evening in Midlands Collegiate Athletic Conference action at Miller Park.

Bellevue won its 11th-straight game and improved to 38-14 and 9-1 in the MCAC while York dropped to 17-24 overall and 2-10 in league play. The Bruins have now won the last 14 games against the Panthers.

The Bruins will host College of Saint Mary tomorrow (April 25) in their final home regular season doubleheader of the season. First pitch is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. at Hall of Fame Fields.

Game 1: Bellevue 11, York 0
BU outhit the Panthers 17-7 and scored six runs in the fifth and added four more in the seventh inning to take the opener, 11-0.

Amanda Neumann tossed her eighth complete game to improve to 12-6 on the season. She struck out a season-high 11 batters in the shutout.
 
The first five batters reached base and the Bruins took advantage of three errors in the fifth inning to take a 6-0 lead. BU registered five hits as five different players recorded an RBI in the inning.

BU added to its lead in the sixth on an RBI single to center field by Kim Wees that scored Katie Tew from second base.

The Bruins scored four runs on seven hits in the final inning. Kelsie Bridgeford, this week's MCAC Player of the Week, led the seventh inning off with a solo home run and Kathryn Wardian blasted a two-run homer. Neumann added an RBI single to propel BU to the 11-0 win.

Taby Cramer (5-9) took the loss, allowing six runs, one earned, on eights hits in 4.2 innings of work.

Game 2: Bellevue 1, York 0
The series finale was dominated by pitching as the two team combined for just six hits.

After playing six scoreless innings, BU scored the only run of the game in the top of the seventh on a sacrifice fly to center field by Wardian that plated Brooke Ellis from third.

Taylor Mohler threw her second-straight shutout, striking out five and allowing only four hits and one walk. The MCAC's reining Pitcher of the Week, leads the team with a 17-5 record on the season.

Cramer suffered her second loss of the day, allowing one run in two innings of relief.
