FREMONT, Neb. -- The Bellevue University softball team split a pair of eight inning games at Midland University Wednesday night, losing the opener, 6-5, before rebounding with a 2-1 win in the nightcap.
Bellevue moved to 18-11 on the season with the split. Midland is 6-17 overall.
The Bruins return home on Thursday (March 29) for a 4 p.m. doubleheader against Hastings College at Hall of Fame Fields.

Nicole Andrews' RBI single in the bottom of the eighth inning gave the Warriors the 6-5 win in the opener.
Brooke Ellis went 2-for-3 with a double and a home run and three RBIs to pace the Bruin offense.

With the game tied at 1-1, Shelby Kindelin blasted an RBI single to give the Bruins a 2-1 advantage in the top of the eighth inning. In the bottom half of the eighth, Taylor Mohler forced a ground out and fanned the final two batters to preserve the BU victory.
Mohler improved to 8-3 on the season, scattering five hits while striking out 12 batters in eight innings of work.
