CRETE, Neb. -- Playing in its first games in the state of Nebraska, the Bellevue University softball team swept Doane College, 5-4 and 8-1 Tuesday afternoon at the Ledon Softball Complex.
Bellevue improved to 11-8 on the season and has now won six-straight games. Doane fell to 6-4 overall.

Bellevue raced out to a 5-1 and then held on for a 5-4 victory in the opener. Amanda Neuman went 2-for-4 with a double, a home run and two RBIs to lead the Bruins at the plate. She also entered the game in relief, collecting the save while retiring two of the last three batters in the seventh with two strikeouts.
Shelby Kindelin (2-4) earned the win on the mound, striking out 10 batters, while allowing seven hits and two walks in 6.1 innings.
Kindelin went 3-for-4 at the plate with an RBI. Kelsie Bridgeford and Katie Malloy also recorded RBIs in the win.

Game 2: Bellevue 8, Doane 0
The Bruins pounded out 11 hits, including four doubles and three home runs and rode the pitching of freshman Taylor Mohler as BU posted an 8-1 win in the nightcap.
The Bruins took an early 1-0 lead in the top of the second on an RBI double by Bridgeford. BU made it 3-0 in the third on consecutive RBI doubles by Kim Wees and Neumann.
Bellevue padded its lead with consecutive solo homers by Bridgeford and Malloy in the top of the sixth to push the BU lead to 5-0.
A three-run homer by Neuman in the seventh increased the BU lead to 8-0.
Brooke Sampson ruined the shutout with a solo homer in the bottom of the seventh.
Mohler (4-2) got her fourth win of the season, allowing just four hits and one walk while striking out eight batters in seven innings of work.

The Bruins will travel to Oskalossa, Iowa on Wednesday (March 14) for a 4 p.m. doubleheader at William Penn University.
