BU splits at NTC Spring Games Wednesday

CLERMONT, Fla. -- The Bellevue University softball team split a pair of games Wednesday at the National Training Center Spring Games, defeating College of Saint Rose, 7-1, before losing to St. Joseph's (Ind.) University, 3-2.

Both of today's opponents were NCAA Division II squads. 

The Bruins are now 5-8 on the season. Bellevue will continue action in the tournament on Thursday (March 8) when BU plays an 11 a.m. doubleheader against Hannibal-LaGrange University.

Bellevue 7, College of Saint Rose 1
The Bruins broke open a tight 2-1 game with four runs in the bottom of the sixth. Sophomore pinch hitter Kaylea Kult provided the big blow with a two-out triple, scoring two runs.

St. Joseph's 3, Bellevue 2
An RBI single by Kylie Weeks in the bottom of the seventh gave St. Joseph's the 3-2 win in the Bruins' second game. 

Amanda Neumann went 2-for-3 with a double, a home run, and two RBIs to lead Bellevue at the plate. 

Neumann registered the loss on the mound, allowing seven hits and three walks, while striking out three in 6.2 innings of work.
