Bruins drop two to open 2012 season

FARMER'S BRANCH, Texas -- The Bellevue University softball team opened the 2012 season with a pair of losses at the Saint Gregory's Tournament, falling 7-6 to Our Lady of the Lake University and 10-1 to No. 3 ranked Oklahoma City University. 

OLLU used a walk-off homer by Kaitlyn Bourg in the bottom of the seventh inning to post a 7-6 victory over Bellevue in the opener. Brooke Ellis went 2-for-3 with three RBIs and a double to lead the Bruins at the plate. 

Oklahoma City pounded out 10 hits, including three home runs, while recording the 10-1 win over Bellevue in five innings. Haley Anderson had two of the Stars' three home runs. Ellis, once again, paced the BU offense, going 2-for-2 in the loss. 

The Bruins (0-2) conclude the tournament on Saturday with a 10:30 a.m. contest against Southern Nazarene University and a 1:30 p.m. game against Southwestern (Kan.) College.
