BELLEVUE, Neb. -- NCAA Division II Rockhurst University scored two runs in the top of the seventh to squeak out a 4-3 win over the Bruins and then cruised to a 8-0 shutout in five innings in the nightcap to register a non-conference doubleheader sweep over Bellevue University Tuesday afternoon at Hall of Fame Fields.

The Bruins (24-17) are back in action tomorrow (April 27) with a 3 p.m. conference doubleheader at College of St. Mary in Omaha. Rockhurst improved to 19-25 with the sweep.

Game 1
Rockhurst scored two unearned runs in the top of the seventh to escape with the 4-3 win in the opener. Allie Bartley and Amanda Neumann split time in the circle, with Neumann taking the loss after giving up three runs, one earned, while recording three strikeouts. Neumann fell to 17-8 on the season with the loss.

An RBI double to center field by Leslie Furdek and a fielding error by center fielder Erica McCoy gave the Hawks an early 2-0 advantage in the top of the first

The Bruins tied it up in the fourth inning with a two-run homer by Neumann to right center field.

Bellevue took the lead on an RBI single up the middle by Brooke Ellis in the bottom of the sixth.

Rockhurst answered with two runs in the top of the seventh on a pair of Bruin fielding errors to take a 4-3 lead. Hawk pitcher Katie McCune retired the side in the bottom of the seventh to secure the RU win.

Game 2
Rockhurst's Kayla Hoyer tossed a two-hitter with eight strikeouts and the Hawks used two two-run homers to fuel an 8-0 shut out in five innings in the nightcap. Neumann and Kathryn Wardian were the only Bruins to manage hits in the game.

A two-run shot by Amanda Burger over the center field fence and a sacrifice fly to right field by Alex Jacobson gave Rockhurst a 3-0 lead in the top of the second inning.

Furdek's two-run homer in the third extended the lead to 5-0.

A two-run double by Lizzy Tucker sparked a three-run fourth as the Hawks padded the lead at 8-0.
