BU on both ends of shutout in final day in Florida

CLERMONT, Fla. -- The Bellevue University softball team concluded its final day of play at the National Training Center Spring Games by splitting a pair of shutouts, downing Clarke University 11-0 in five innings in the first game, before dropping a 3-0 decision to Webber International in the nightcap. 

The Bruins (4-7) will open the home portion of their 2011 schedule on Tuesday, March 15 with a 2 p.m. doubleheader against Ottawa University at Hall of Fame Fields in Bellevue.  

Bellevue 11, Clarke 0
The Bruins erupted for eight runs in the fourth inning and Allie Bartley pitched a no-hitter picking up her second win of the season as the Bruins shut out Clarke 11-0 in the opening game of the day.

Kathryn Wardian went 2-for-2 with two RBIs, three runs scored, and a home run to lead the Bruins at the plate. Amanda Neumann blasted her third home run of the season and four separate Bruins had two hits in the victory.

Webber International 3, Bellevue 0
The Bruins suffered just their second shutout of the season in the 3-0 loss to Webber International.
