CLERMONT, Fla. -- The Bellevue University softball team split a doubleheader with Hannibal-LaGrange University Wednesday at the National Training Center Spring Games. The Bruins won the first game, 2-1, before dropping the nightcap, 4-3.

Bellevue (2-5) will continue action at the tournament on Thursday with a 3 p.m. game against the College of St. Rose and a 7:30 p.m. contest against Ursuline (Ohio) College.

Kelsey Morrissey went 1-for-3 with an RBI in the 2-1 win in the opener. Jessica Guyle, Kim Wees, and Allie Bartley produced two hits apiece and Amanda Neumann allowed just three hits, while striking out six batters to improve to 2-2 on the season.

Morrisey's single to center field drove in Bartley to give the Bruins an early 1-0 advantage in the top of the second inning. HLC tied it up in the bottom of the third inning on consecutive doubles by Jennifer Ogden and Marissa Foreman. 

The Bruins scored what proved to be the game-winning run in the top of the fourth when Bartley reached home following a throwing error by Trojan pitcher Kachina Hudson.

Guyle and Bartley each recorded two hits and a RBI to lead the Bruins offense in game two of the doubleheader.

HLC scored three runs on three hits in the first inning.

Bartley singled to center field that allowed Neumann to score to cut the Trojans lead down to 3-1 after the first inning.

The Trojans scored the game-winning run in the second inning on an error that allowed Kelli Black to score.

BU scored two runs in the sixth inning highlighted by a RBI single to left field by Guyle and a sacrifice fly to right field by Wees to score Erica McCoy.

Jordan Hawker earned the win, pitching six innings and allowing eight hits and three runs. Kelly Wieczorek suffered the loss and fell to 0-2 on the season.
