Trio named to OWH all-Nebraska softball team

Bellevue University outfielder Jordann Ellis, pitcher Kora Behrens and designated hitter Jenny Gawart were named to the Omaha World-Herald NAIA all-Nebraska softball team announced today.

The 2009 Midlands Collegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Year, Ellis paced the Bruins to an undefeated (12-0) conference season and to a 29-13 overall record.

A two-time first team all-conference selection, Ellis led the 2009 Bruins and the league with a .449 batting average, 15 home runs and 47 RBIs.

Nationally, Ellis ranked third in home runs per game (0.36), ninth in slugging percentage (.860) and 17th in RBIs (1.12 pg).

Behrens earned 2009 MCAC Pitcher of the Year honors by posting a 11-7 record with a 2.41 ERA and 156 strikeouts.

Gawart started 34 games this season, batting .224 with five home runs and 22 RBIs while earning second team all-MCAC accolades

First baseman Kate Lefler, catcher Kendra Gansz and outfielder Kady Revis all earned honorable mention recognition.
