PAPILLION, Neb. -- A pair of goals in the final 10 minutes broke a one-all tie as the Bellevue University men's soccer team secured a 3-1 win over Kansas Wesleyan on Wednesday evening.

Records:

#12 Bellevue: 2-1-0
Kansas Wesleyan: 1-1-0

BU 3, KWU 1

Daniel Smith opened the scoring for Bellevue at the 10-minute mark. Anthony Cox played a cross from the far sideline that Antonio Capra flicked on to Smith. With the keeper completely frozen by Capra's touch, Smith blasted a shot into a wide open goal mouth for an early 1-0 Bruin lead.

The game remained 1-0 into halftime despite several quality scoring chances for the Bruins, including one shot that dinged the goal post.

In the 63rd minute, Steven Moya worked himself free in the box and banged home a header off a cross from Guilherme Ayres that deflected off keeper Romeo Paparesta's hands and inside the goal post.

The game proceeded as a stalemate over the next 18 minutes despite a flurry of chances from the Bruins.

Bellevue finally broke through on their 14th corner kick of the evening. Cox played an out-swinger to the back post that Jake Cover got a foot to and lobbed a volley under the crossbar for a 2-1 BU lead.

Guilherme Alencar put the game away in the 84th minute, scoring a breakaway goal. In one-on-one with the keeper, Alencar rifled a shot to the upper corner of the near side.

Paparesta recorded one save and the win in goal for the Bruins who out-shot Kansas Wesleyan 23-4 on the night.

Oswaldo Diaz-Lopez made six saves for the Coyotes and played very well under constant duress.
