BU blanks Waldorf for fourth-straight win

FOREST CITY, Iowa -- Gabriel Gaiotto's 29th minute goal stood up for the Bruins in a physical affair as the Bellevue University men's soccer team earned their fourth-straight win, 1-0, over Waldorf University on Wednesday evening.

Records:

Bellevue: 8-4-0
Waldorf: 2-6-0

Recap: BU 1, Waldorf 0

Gabriel Gaiotto staked Bellevue to a 1-0 lead with a 29th minute goal, his third of the season.

That goal preceded a run of four yellow cards in succession but the officials were able to get the game back under control and Bellevue took their one-goal lead into halftime.

The Bruins held a 5-1 advantage in shots in the opening 45 minutes, including 2-0 on goal.

The second half produced a similar stat line with Bellevue out-shooting Waldorf 4-1 (1-0 on goal) in the period.

Harry Wray was not tasked with making a save in earning his third clean sheet of the season and BU piled up a 5-3 advantage in corner kicks on the game.

Joao Romeu totaled two saves in the loss.

Man of the Match:

Ricky Reyes

Coach Mark Heath-Preston:

"With a number of guys out we did really well to battle through the game. It wasn't a perfect performance but we stuck together against a really ill-disciplined team. The officials were the best we have had all year which helped keep the game going. Ricky Reyes was excellent and so was Ivan Hernandez who had missed the last few weeks of training."

Up Next:

Bellevue wraps up the fall portion of their schedule next Wednesday in Chickasha, Okla. against University of Science & Arts. Kick-off is scheduled for 7:15 p.m. from McLaughlin Field.
