Bellevue blanks York in MCAC opener

OMAHA, Neb. -- The Bellevue University men's soccer team broke open a scoreless game with two late first half goals en route to a 4 -0 victory over York College in the Midlands Collegiate Athletic Conference opener for both teams Saturday at Tranquility Park.

Freshman Michael Conchie and junior Mark Heath-Preston each recorded a goal and an assist to lead the Bruin attack.

Freshman Graeme Eaglesham started the game's scoring at 40:33 following a pass into the box  from Conchie that got past the Panthers' goalie Lynden Fisher, leaving an open net.

Conchie scored just before the half on a free kick in the box off a touch pass from Heath-Preston to make it 2-0 at the intermission.

Milan Ivanovic scored on a free kick from the top of the box in the 50th minute to push the Bruin advantage to 3-0.

Mark Heath-Preston padded the Bruin lead with a header in the box following a slick pass from James Evison in the 79th minute.

Bellevue outshot the Panthers 38-2, including a 16-0 advantage in shots on goal.
