Top-seeded Lindsey Wilson ends Bellevue's season

FRESNO, Calif. -- Top-seeded and second-ranked Lindsey Wilson College shut out the 16th-seeded Bellevue University men's soccer team, 2-0, in the second round of the NAIA Men's Soccer National Championship Monday afternoon on the campus of Fresno Pacific University.

The loss ended Bellevue's season at 14-4-1. Lindsey Wilson improved to 17-2-1, advancing to Wednesday's quarterfinal where they will face the winner of the Martin Methodist-Southern Poly State match.

Lindsey Wilson scored the game's first goal when Carnell Learmond got the ball by Bruin goalkeeper Sebastian Narvarez on a pass from Michael Azira in the 23rd minute.

The Blue Raiders got an insurance goal with just over five minutes remaining in the game when Lebogang Moloto scored on a shot in the box off an assist from Chris Ochieng.

Lindsey Wilson controlled the action most of the game as the Bruins managed just four shots in the loss, none on goal. In contrast, the Blue Raiders collected 19 shots, six on goal.

The loss marked the final game for Bruin seniors, Casey Friend, Milan Ivanovic and Mo Travis.
