Columbia edges Bellevue, 3-2

COLUMBIA, Mo. -- Columbia College scored two early goals en route to a 3-2 win over Bellevue University in non-conference men's soccer action Friday night.

With the loss, the Bruins dropped to 5-2-1 on the year. Columbia improved to 7-2-1 overall.

Ilya Grin put Columbia on the board first, scoring off an assist from Lloyd Jacobs in the 16th minute of action. Jordan Cox gave the Cougars a 2-0 lead at the half after scoring at 27:25. Yudai Yamaguchi and Dylan Barduzzi were credited with assists.

In the second half Barduzzi put Columbia on top 3-0 in the 54th minute when he found the back of the net off an assist from Parker Rawdon.

The Bruins finally responded when Mo Travis netted at a goal at 58:59 to cut the deficit to 3-1. Freshman James Blair scored with less than three minutes remaining in the game to cut the final margin to 3-2.

Columbia held a slight 18-17 advantage in shots and an 8-7 edge in shots on goal.

Junior Sebastian Narvaez suffered the loss, falling to 5-2-1 on the season while recording five saves.

The Bruins return to action next Saturday, Oct. 3, when they host York College at 3:30 p.m. at Tranquility Park.
