Heath-Preston leads BU over St. Ambrose, 2-1

OMAHA, Neb. -- Junior Mark Heath-Preston scored two first-half goals as the 23rd-ranked Bruins held on for a 2-1 victory over St. Ambrose in men's soccer action Tuesday at Tranquility Park.

With the win, Bellevue improved to 5-1-1 on the season while St. Ambrose fell to 1-9 overall.

Heath-Preston scored the game's first goal on a pass into the box from Ryan Cantello at 20:44.

 Three minutes later, Heath-Preston drove down the left sideline and found the back of the net off the far post. Cantello and Leon Kita were both credited with the assist to give the Bruins a 2-0 advantage.

The Fighting Bees cut the lead in half in the game's 64th minute when Simon Murphy scored off a pass in the box from Matt Carlson.

The Bruins held a 23-16 advantage in shots, six coming from Heath-Preston. St. Ambrose, however, had a 7-6 edge in shots on goal.

Junior Sebastian Narvaez earned the win, playing the first half only, recording four saves.

BU will head to Columbia, Mo. for a 6 p.m. match on Friday, Sept. 25 at Columbia College.
