12th-ranked Bruins shut out by Graceland

LAMONI, Iowa -- The Graceland University men's soccer team scored two goals early in the game and added another on a penalty kick in the second half to shut out 12th-ranked Bellevue University 3-0 Saturday night in non-conference action.

Graceland, who defeated NCAA Division I Western Illinois 4-0 earlier in the week, improved to 2-0 on the season. Bellevue fell to 2-1 overall.

The Yellowjackets' Steffan Delas scored 22 minutes into the game on a pass by Andre Sharpe. Graceland found the back of the net just over three minutes later on an unassisted goal by Roger Thompson to make it 2-0 Graceland at halftime.

Graceland added its final goal at 66:40 on a penalty kick by Aaron Cairns after a Leon Kita foul.

The Bruins were outshot 21-9 in the loss. Sebastian Narvaez suffered the loss giving up all three goals while recording eight saves.

Bellevue will travel to Salt Lake City, Utah next Friday and Sunday, Sept. 11 and 13 for matches against Embry-Riddle (Ariz.) and Westminster (Utah.)
