Rodgers helps BU take home fifth-straight NSAA Championship

ONALASKA, Wis. -- Freshman Dylan Rodgers won the individual title, and the Bruins occupied the top four spots in the individual standings, as the Bellevue University men's golf team captured its fifth-consecutive North Star Athletic Association championship on Tuesday. The six-team tournament was played at the 6,897-yard, par-71 Golf Club at Cedar Creek. 

The Bruins dominated the tournament, winning by 36 strokes over second-place Viterbo University. BU finished the tournament at 20-over par with team rounds of 290 and 298. Viterbo was 56-over par (316, 308), and Waldorf placed third at 66-over par (314, 320).

Rodgers matched his opening round score of 2-over par 73 to finish the tournament at 4-over par. He had two birdies and 13 pars on the day. 

Totte Uhlan finished in second place at 6-over par, carding a 4-over 75 in the second round. He had two birdies and 11 pars in the second round. 

Sam Johnson placed third at 7-over par for the tournament with rounds of 75 and 74. He birdied three-of-four holes on the front nine, registering an even-par 36 on the opening nine holes. 

Randy Christiansen finished in fourth place at 8-over par after Tuesday's 6-over 77. He had three birdies and eight pars in the second round. 

Nathan Ishaya, who did not compete in Monday's opening round, finished the day at 5-over par. He parred eight holes and had three birdies in his round. 

Head coach Rob Brown was named the NSAA Coach of the Year for the 11th time in his career.  

Rodgers, Uhlan, Johnson, and Christiansen earned first-team all-NSAA honors for their performances in the tournament. 

Rodgers was also Bellevue's representative for the NAIA Champions of Character Award. 

It marked the Bruins' 11th conference championship in school history. 

Next up for the Bruins is the 2024 NAIA National Championship, to be held from May 21-24 at the Dalton Golf and Country Club in Dalton, Ga.
