BU finishes in a tie for seventh at NAIA Men's Golf Nationals

SILVIS, Ill. -- The Bellevue University men's golf team finished in a tie for seventh place at the 2021 NAIA Men's Golf National Championships being held at the 6,732-yard, par-71 TPC at Deere Run.

The seventh-place showing was the second-highest finish in school history. Bellevue finished in fifth place in 2013 when the 72-hole tournament was played at the Creekside Golf Club in Salem, Ore. 

The Bruins shot a team score of 20-over 304 in the final round. BU was 59-over par for the four-day tournament. 

Dalton State edged out Texas Wesleyan by one stroke to claim the team title and the National Championship, finishing the tournament at 35-over par as a team.   

Hugo Ronnberg was the top BU finisher in the tournament. He was 4-over on the day and 9-over for the tournament, putting him in a tie for 15th place. His round consisted of four birdies and seven pars. Ronnberg was 2-under par on the front nine but suffered six bogeys and a double bogey on the back nine. 

Andre Becerra finished 7-over on the day and 13-over for the tournament. He had one birdie and nine pars in Friday's round and finished the tournament in a tie for 30th place 

Floris-Jan Oosterhof carded a 5-over 76 and finished the tournament at 14-over par, good for a tie for 34th place. Oosterhof nailed one birdie and 11 pars on the day.  

Rodrigo Navarrete shot a 4-over 75 and was 24-over for the tournament which put him in a tie for 62nd place. He collected two birdies and 11 pars in the final round. 

Alex Zillig finished the tournament at 32-over par after shooting an 11-over 82 on Friday. He had one birdie and seven pars in his round and finished in a tie for 79th place. 

Morningside's Corey Matthey won the individual title, finishing at 4-under par for the tournament. Dalton State's Ben Rebne and William Woods' Logan Smith tied for second at even par.
