Bruins win third-straight tournament with title at U.C. Ferguson Classic

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. -- The Bellevue University men's golf team fired a team score of 8-under par 276 to run away with the team title Tuesday at the 15-team U.C. Ferguson Classic. The tournament was played at the 6,576-yard, par-71 Lincoln Park Golf Course (West Course). It marked BU's third-straight team title and seventh overall this season. 

The Bruins fired a three-round team total of 27-under par 825 (280-269-276). Southwestern Christian University and Indian Hills Community College were both 10 strokes back at 17-under par. 

Rodrigo Navarrete finished in fourth place overall in the 85-player field at 9-under par after shooting an even-par 71. His round was sparked by an eagle and two birdies. 

Alex Zillig equaled his second-round score of 3-under 68 and finished the tournament at 7-under par, good for a tie for fifth place. He had six birdies in his round. 

The top BU golfer on the day was Hugo Ronnberg, who fired a 5-under score of 66. He finished in a tie for 10th place with a three-round total of 4-under par. His round was highlighted by four birdies and an eagle. He also had 12 pars and just one bogey. 

Andre Beccera placed in a tie for 14th overall at 2-under par. He shot an even-par 71 in Tuesday's final round. He had two birdies and an eagle while producing 11 pars. 

Floris-Jan Oosterhof finished at even-par for the tournament after posting a 2-over 73. He finished in a tie for 19th overall with three birdies on the day.  

The Bruins will next compete at the North Star Athletic Association Championship on April 26-27 in Onalaska, Wis. The tournament will be played at the Cedar Creek Golf Club.
