Bellevue leads after 36 at U.C. Ferguson Classic

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. -- Behind strong rounds throughout the BU lineup the No. 6-ranked Bellevue University men's golf team holds a five-stroke lead through 36 holes of play at the 54-hole U.C. Ferguson Classic.

Recap:

Rodrigo Navarrete fired a pair of very strong rounds in the mid-60's (67-66) as he's 9-under through two rounds. Navarrete's second round 66 was tied for the second-lowest round of the day. Oklahoma City's David Meyers fired a 9-under 62 in his second round and sits atop the leaderboard at 11-under through Monday.

Alex Zillig is tied for ninth overall with a pair of below par rounds. He fired a 1-under first round and backed it up with a 3-under second round to finish the day at 4-under (138).

Floris-Jan Oosterhof was the other Bruin who carded a pair of below par rounds. Oosterhof posted matching 1-under scores in the first and second rounds as he sits in a tie for 15th with teammate Andre Becerra (73-67) at 2-under apiece.

Fifth golfer Hugo Ronnberg trimmed seven strokes off his opening round 75 to shoot a very solid 3-under 68 in the second round. He's 1-over through two rounds of play and tied for 29th in the individual standings.

Bellevue shot 4-under as a team in the first round and followed it up with a tournament-best 15-under second round to hold a five-stroke lead over second place #16 Southwestern Christian (549-554). The Eagles were consistent on the day, shooting 7-under in each round. Indian Hills (285-274) is in third at 9-under, followed by #17 Houston-Victoria (283-277) in fourth at 8-under, and #8 Oklahoma City (292-272) rounding out the top five at 4-under.

The Bruins' "B" team shot 19-over as a unit, and are 12th in the team standings. They were led by Hugo Brandt (70-71) at 1-under as Brandt is tied for 19th overall. Cameron Lampe (71-75) is 4-over, Baptiste Bonnet (76-72) is 6-over, Lucas Leinen (79-73) is 10-over, and Evan Macke (81-80) is 19-over through 36 holes of play.

Totte Uhlan, making his Bruin debut as an individual, backed up his first round 73 with a second round 75. He was 6-over for the day and tied for 56th overall.
