Bruins repeat at Nebraska Intercollegiate, Ronnberg takes medalist honors

NORFOLK, Neb. -- Hugo Ronnberg fired an even-par second round to claim a one-stroke victory over teammate Rodrigo Navarette and the Bellevue University men's golf team ran away with the team title at the Nebraska Intercollegiate Championship, hosted by the Nebraska Golf Association.

Bellevue successfully defended their 2018 team title – the 2019 event was not played – with a team score of 569 (-7) which was good enough for a 36-stroke victory over Nebraska Wesleyan University (605, +29).

The Bruins' top three golfers all finished under par for the tournament to sweep the top three places.

Following BU and Nebraska Wesleyan were Doane University (614), Bellevue "Gold" (628), and Northeast Community College (629) to round out the top five spots.

Individual Recap:

Hugo Ronnberg (-3) began the day two strokes ahead of the field and his even par round earned him a one-stroke victory over Rodrigo Navarette (-2) who matched yesterday's 1-under performance with another.

Floris-Jan Oosterhof (-1) recorded an even-par round to finish third overall while Alex Zillig (+3) carded a 4-over on the day to finish in a three-way tie for fourth.

Andre Becerra (+4) registered an even par 72 to finish in sole possession of seventh place.

Ty Heimes (Northeast CC) was the highest non-BU finisher. He finished at 3-over on the strength of today's 1-under round of 71. Notably Bryce VunCannon (Nebraska Wesleyan), who began the day just two shots off the pace, carded an 8-over round to finish in a tie for 11th at 7-over.

Baptiste Bonnet (+3) paced the "Gold" team with a 1-under round as he finished as the third member of the fourth place triumvirate.

Cameron Lampe (15th) and Lucas Leinen (t-21st) each shot 7-over (79) on the day while Evan Macke (34th) rounded out the "Gold" unit with a second round score of 83 (+11).

Bellevue returns to action on Monday-Tuesday, Oct. 12-13 when they compete in the Maverick Invitational at the Creek, hosted by the University of Nebraska Omaha. Play begins each day at 8:30 a.m. from the Club at Indian Creek in Elkhorn, Neb.
