OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla -- Led by Floris-Jan Oosterhof, the Bellevue University men's golf team claimed a share of the title on Tuesday at the Southern Plains Collegiate Tournament being played at the 7,062-yard, par-72 Gaillardia Country Club.
The Bruins tied for the tournament championship with Southwestern Christian University as both teams finished at 1-over par for the 54-hole event. Host school Oklahoma City was two strokes back at 3-over par.
Oosterhof finished the tournament in second place in the 63-player field at 5-under par. He shot a 3-under 69 on Tuesday and finished all three rounds under par (71-71-69). Andre Becerra and Alex Zillig both tied for eighth place as each finished the tournament at 2-over par (218).
Rodrigo Navarrete was just behind them at 3-over par, putting him in a tie for 10th place.
Oklahoma City's David Meyers ran away with the individual title, finishing the tournament at 16-under par with rounds of 64-69-67.
The Bruins return to action Friday-Saturday, Sept. 18-19 when they head to Pella, Iowa to compete in the Ryerson Fall Classic at the Bos Landen Golf Club.
