OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. -- Led by freshman Rodrigo Navarette, the Bellevue University men's golf team is currently in fifth place after the opening two rounds of play at the Southern Plains Intercollegiate Classic. 

The tournament, which features five of the nation's top 20 teams including top-ranked Oklahoma City and second-ranked Texas Wesleyan, is being played at the 7,255-yard, par-72 Gaillardia Country Club. 

Oklahoma City leads the 11-team field after two rounds at 6-over par with identical rounds of 3-over par 291. Texas Wesleyan is four strokes back at 7-over par (287-299 -- 586). The Bruins fired rounds of 305 and 310 and are 33 shots off the pace at 39-over par. 

Navarette is tied for 14th place in the 66-player field at 5-over par after registering rounds of 73 and 76. His day was highlighted by an eagle on the 18th hole of the first round. 

Andre Becerra is tied for 24th at 8-over par with rounds of 77 and 75. Alex Zillig is tied for 30th at 12-over par (77-79 -- 156). 

Juan Pablo Gomez carded rounds of 78 and 80 to put him in a tie for 35th place. Floris-Jan Oosterhof rounded out the scoring with rounds of 79 and 81 to put him in a tie for 42nd place. 

Oklahoma State's Aman Gupta leads the field at 2-under par with identical rounds of 71. OCU's Jack Madden is one stroke back at 1-under par (72-71 -- 143). 

Tuesday's final round will begin with an 8 a.m. shotgun start.
