POLK CITY, Iowa -- The Bellevue University men's golf team held off a furious second round charge by Morningside College to take home their first team title of the season at the Grand View Viking Classic.

The Course:

The Grand View Viking Classic was held at the Tournament Club of Iowa from the Palmer Tees and set up as a 6,516-yard par-71.

Team Recap:

Morningside entered the day eight strokes back and shot a 278 (-6) as a team but Bellevue held off the Mustangs with a second round team score of 284 (E) to secure a two-stroke victory (564-566).

Six other schools shot under 300 on the day. Mount Mercy (296-289—585), Grand View (306-287—593), and Ottawa (309-286—595) rounded out the top five.

All four Bruin scorers were within a stroke of par with two even, one over par, and one under par on the day.

Morningside saw each of their four scoring golfers shoot par or better.

Individual Recap:

Andre Becerra entered the day as the tournament co-leader, along with teammate Rodrigo Navarette, and finished in a tie for first with Cody Holck at 2-under for the tournament.

Holck edged Becerra after a pair of playoff holes. After tying on the first playoff hole (17), Holck earned the win on the second (18).

Holck overcame beginning the day three shots back in a tie for ninth place to earn individual medalist honors. He shot a second round-low 3-under 68 and was matched by Michael Kinkelaar.

Navarette fired a 1-over 72 on the day to finish the tournament tied with Morningside's Sam Storey for third place with scores of 1-under 141. William Bruyeres (Mount Mercy) and Corey Matthew (Morningside) rounded out the top five in a tie for fifth place with even-par scores of 142 apiece.

BU's Juan Pablo Gomez carded an even-par round to finish the event at 1-over (143) in a tie for seventh place.

Lautaro Marzilio followed up his first round 70 with a second round score of 75 (+4) to end in sole possession of 13th place. Alex Zillig improved seven strokes from Monday to record a 1-under round of 70 and finish tied for 17th place with a score of 147.

Bruins Competing as Individuals:

Evan Macke trimmed three strokes off his first round score by carding a 3-over 74 to finish at 9-over (151) in a tie for 27th place.

Floris-Jan Oosterhof fired a 1-over 72 on the day to finish the tournament in 14th place at 4-over (146). Lucas Leinen also improved his score by two strokes with an 8-over 79 to finished in a tie for 52nd with a two-day total of 160.
