MADISON, S.D. -- Bellevue University junior guard Eric Pierce has been named the North Star Athletic Association Men's Basketball Player of the Week, as announced by the NSAA office on Monday afternoon.

Pierce averaged 18 points, 9.5 rebounds, and 5.0 assists per game in a 1-1 week for the Bruins (16-13/8-5 NSAA). He shot 45.5% from the floor and hit on 86.7% of his free throw attempts.

In Friday's 89-77 win over Valley City, Pierce recorded his first double-double of the season. He led all scorers with 24 points on 8-of-11 shooting from the floor and connected on 6-of-7 free throw attempts. He hauled in a season-high 10 rebounds and dished out three assists.

He followed up that performance with 12 points, nine rebounds, and seven assists in a gut-wrenching 67-65 loss at Dickinson State. His seven assists marked a season-high and the third-most by a BU player this season.

For the season, Pierce is averaging 10.4 points and a team-leading 6.9 rebounds per game. He has totaled 26 assists and 22 steals in 14 games.

Bellevue wraps up the regular-season on Thursday, Feb. 18 with a tilt against Dakota State University (9-13/7-6 NSAA). A win secures the No. 2-seed in the upcoming NSAA Tournament while a loss could see the Bruins seeded anywhere from 2nd-5th. Tip-off is slated for 7:30 p.m. and will be preceded by Senior Night Ceremonies.
