MADISON, S.D. -- Bellevue University senior BJ Shelton (Bakersfield, Calif.) has been named the North Star Athletic Association's Men's Basketball Player of the Week following a pair of 20-point games and leading the Bruins to two NSAA wins to bring BU into a tie for first place.

BJ Shelton was a dominant force for Bellevue as the Bruins picked up a pair of crucial NSAA victories over Presentation and Waldorf last week. The senior guard averaged 26.5 points and 7.5 rebounds per game while shooting 58.3% from the floor and 61.1% from the free throw line.

He scored a career-high 32 points and pulled down eight boards in a 93-72 win over Presentation on Friday evening and followed that up with a 21-point, 7-rebound effort in an 84-72 triumph over Waldorf on Saturday.

The award is the third of Shelton's career after previous earning NSAA Player of the Week honors on both Nov. 14 and Jan. 15 of last season.

Shelton currently leads the Bruins with 12.6 points per game and ranks third in both rebounds per game (4.5) and field goal percentage (54.6).

The Bruins are currently 16-10 overall and in a three-way tie for first place with an 8-5 record in NSAA play.
