MADISON, S.D. -- Bellevue University junior guard BJ Shelton (Bakersfield, Calif.) has been named the North Star Athletic Association's Player of the Week, as announced by the conference.
Shelton put together a pair of terrific games last week for the Bruins. He averaged 19.0 points and 6.5 rebounds per game while hitting on 64.3 percent of his field goal attempts, going 18-of-28 from the floor.
In a quality road win at #25 Dakota Wesleyan, Shelton scored 23 points on 11-of-18 shooting and hauled in seven rebounds. He followed that performance up with a 15-point (7-of-10 shooting) and six-rebound performance in a tough 78-72 loss to #21 Midland.
The Bruins are now 3-4 on the season and have already played three ranked teams, all away from the comforts of the Gordon Lozier Athletic Center.
BU returns home tomorrow for a 7 p.m. tip-off against NCAA Division II Chadron State College.
