Bruins cruise to 95-59 win over Manhattan Christian

BELLEVUE, Neb. -- The 15th-ranked Bellevue University men's basketball team posted a 95-59 win over Manhattan Christian College Saturday afternoon in nonconference action at the Gordon Lozier Athletic Center.

Bellevue has now won five of its last six games and improved to 7-2 while Manhattan Christian dropped to 5-6 overall.

Lee Ames led the Bruins with 18 points and chipped in three steals and two assists while Taylor Young recorded 15 points and two assists.

Michael Dotson, Russell Droll and Darren Redstar led the Bruins on the glass with six rebounds apiece.

Isaiah Strong added eight assists and five points off the bench.

Leading by two, 26-24 at the 8:10 mark in the opening half, the Bruins closed the period on a 21-7 run to take a 47-31 lead at halftime. BU shot 40 percent from the field and were led by Young's 13 first half points.

BU shot 56.3 percent from the field with five 3-pointers and led by double-digits the entire second half en route to the 36-point win.

The Bruins held the Crusaders to just 42.1 percent shooting from the field and forced 20 turnovers that led to 31 points for BU. The Bruins shot 47.8 percent for the game.

MCC was paced by Will Chisam's 18 points and seven rebounds.

The Bruins will return to action on Thursday, Dec. 12 when they play at NCAA Division II foe the University of Nebraska at Kearney at 7:00 p.m.
