POINT LOOKOUT, Mo. -- Hot shooting Cardinal Stritch University ended Bellevue University's national tournament run as the Wolves collected an 81-56 victory in the second round of the NAIA Division II Men's Basketball National Championship being played at Keeter Gymnasium on the campus of College of the Ozarks.
Bellevue, ranked No. 19, ended its season with a 24-11 record. Second-ranked CSU improved to 32-3 on the season and will face No. 7 Dordt College in a quarterfinal matchup on Saturday at 3 p.m.
Junior Jamil Goodwin paced the Bruins with 19 points and seven rebounds. Senior Shawn Tarver added 13 points and six boards.
The Wolves had four players finish in double figures, led by Derek Semenas with 20 points and Darren Moore with 17.
CSU shot 54 percent for the game including 50 percent (10-of-20) from behind the arc and scored 20 points off BU turnovers.
Behind 70 percent shooting, the Wolves raced out to a 26-4 lead in the first 10 minutes of the game and never looked back, as Bellevue hit just two of its first nine shots.
A 3-pointer by Chad Mazur gave CSU a 32-9 advantage at the 8:30 mark of the first half. The Wolves closed the half on a 14-5 run to take a commanding 46-14 lead at the break.
Only two Bruins scored in the opening half as Tarver registered nine points and Goodwin added five. The 14-point total in the first half was a season-low as BU shot just 26 percent from the field and committed eight turnovers.
The Wolves led by as many as 39 points after a basket by Mazur gave CSU a 60-21 advantage.
It wasn't until 11 minutes remaining in the game before someone besides Tarver or Goodwin scored for the Bruins as Dominique Grant's bucket pulled BU to within 33 points at 62-29.
After CSU built a 35-point advantage, the Bruins scored the final 10 points of the game to make the final, 81-56.

- Bellevue is 5-5 in second round games
- The Bruins own a 20-14 all-time record in the National Tournament.
