Bruins post 58-50 win over Grand View

CLINTON, Iowa -- The 13th-ranked Bellevue University men's basketball team improved to 4-2 with a 58-50 win against Grand View University (3-4) Friday night in its opening game of the Ashford University Classic at Kehl Arena.

Jamil Goodwin led the Bruins with a game-high 20 points and nine rebounds. He also made seven of his nine field goal attempts.

Michael Dotson was the only other player scoring in double figures, recording 10 points and seven rebounds.

The Bruins scored the first seven points of the game as they built an early 15-7 lead before an 8-2 GVU spurt trimmed the Bruins' lead down to just two, 17-15. BU responded with a 13-5 run over the final seven minutes of the period to take a 30-20 lead at intermission.

The Vikings used a 7-0 run to cut BU's lead down to four, 37-33, with 13 minutes remaining in the second half, but that's the closest they got as the Bruins led by as many as 15 points en route to the eight-point win, 58-50.

BU dominated the glass and held a commanding 36-21 edge in rebounds.
