Parrott's career-night paces BU over Carroll, 89-72

BILLINGS, Mont. -- James Parrott scored a career-high 35 points to pace the ninth-ranked Bellevue University men's basketball team over Carroll College, 89-72, Thursday night in BU's final game of the Rocky Mountain Classic. 

The Bruins improved to 10-4 overall with the win. Carroll fell to 7-5 on the season. 

Parrott was 14-of-21 from the field, including 6-of-10 from three-point range. He also registered three rebounds, three assists, two blocks, and a pair of steals. 

Blake Zamudio added 13 points and Ousseynou Diop recorded his team-leading fourth double-double of the season with 10 points and 10 rebounds. 

Andy Garland led the Fighting Saints with 18 points and four rebounds. 

The Bruins led 48-34 at the half, behind Parrott's 21 points. Bellevue opened the second period on a 6-0 run to extend the lead to 20 points at 54-34. A bucket by Parrott at 12:31 gave Bellevue its largest lead of 25 points. 

Carroll held a slight edge in shooting percentage, 54 to 53 percent, but Bellevue held a 34-21 edge in rebounds, including a commanding 13-3 margin in offensive rebounds. BU made nine more field goals in the win. 

The Bruins return to action next Monday-Tuesday, Jan. 2-3, when they travel to Point Lookout, Mo., to participate in the McDonald's CAM JAM Classic on the campus of the College of the Ozarks.
