LEWISTON, Idaho -- The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics announced the bracket for the 66th Avista NAIA World Series on Friday.

The Bellevue University baseball team will open play at the World Series against William Carey University at 3:05 p.m. (Pacific) on Friday, May 26. Both teams were ranked inside the top 10 of the final NAIA Coaches' Poll with BU checking in at No. 5 and William Carey at No. 8.

Bellevue is making their 16th appearance in the Avista NAIA World Series after qualifying in back-to-back seasons for the first time since doing so in three-straight years, 2006-08. The 1995 National Champions collected a runner-up finish in 1997 and third place result in 2016.

William Carey has made three previous World Series appearances, winning the 1969 title with a 5-3 victory over the University of La Verne. They also qualified in 1978 and 2017.

The Bruins and Crusaders have met three times prior with BU holding a 2-1 lead in the all-time series. Bellevue defeated William Carey 13-3 on Mar. 14, 1996 and 10-8 in the first game of a double-header on Mar. 2, 2009. Carey won game two of that double-header by a 6-3 score.

While this is Bellevue's 16th appearance overall in the World Series, it is the fourth overall during Duane Monlux's tenure, and third in the last four seasons.
