BU announces addition of RHP Pubill

BELLEVUE, Neb. -- Bellevue University head baseball coach Duane Monlux announced today the signing of Jacob Pubill (Daly City, Calif./Laney College) to a letter of intent to continue his academic and athletic careers at BU beginning in the fall.

Pubill, a 6-4, 190-pound right-hander, comes to Bellevue from Laney College in Oakland, Calif. where he has pitched for the Eagles for the last three seasons. He has logged over 100 innings in his junior college career with an ERA of 5.08 while racking up 78 strikeouts.

This season, Pubill has appeared in 13 games with 10 starts but has recorded a decision in just two of those appearances. He has pitched to a 5.40 ERA across 50 innings of work and is owns a 2:1 strikeout-to-walk ratio on the season.

Coach Monlux on Pubill:

"Jacob is a kid that we are excited to be making a Bruin. He is a big right-handed pitcher that we feel has a big upside. He fills up the zone at a high rate and we think he has the ability to come in and pitch some solid innings for us.

Pubill joins earlier signees Hunter Herpel (OF, Mayville, Wis./Hibbing CC), Ayden Adams (RHP, Federal Way, Wash./Everett CC), Austin Herold (LHP, Shenandoah, Iowa/SW Tennessee CC), Titus Oien (LHP, Vancouver, Wash./Clark College), Nick Grade (3B, Kennewick, Wash./Columbia Basin College), Logan Grant (UT, Calgary, Alta./Bismarck State), and Jake Lacey (OF, Gillette, Wyo./Miles CC) in the Bruins' 2022 recruiting class.

The Bruins, ranked seventh nationally, are 41-10 overall and wrapped up the conference play with a 25-2 record, winning the regular-season title, and the No. 1 seed in this weekend's NSAA Tournament. Since 1995, the storied BU baseball program has totaled 34 conference championships, 23 NAIA National Tournament Appearances, and 14 trips to the Avista-NAIA World Series.
