MADISON, S.D. -- Following a two-week lay-off, the #25 Bellevue University baseball team split a North Star Athletic Association double-header with Dakota State University on Tuesday afternoon at Flynn Field.

The Trojans (17-18/10-10 NSAA) won the opener by a 5-0 margin before Bellevue (27-11/9-3 NSAA) posted a 10-0 victory in the nightcap.

Game One: DSU 5, BU 0

Playing their first game in two weeks, the Bruin offense was two-hit by Dakota State right-hander Logan Terfehr in a 5-0 loss.

Terfehr (1-0) struck out 11 Bruin batters as he worked around a pair of fourth inning hits, stranding runners at second and third, in the only inning in which BU threatened.

Jace Pribyl put the Trojans on the board with a sac fly in the third. Josh Van Beek and Chris Kropuenske added two-run homers in the fourth and fifth, respectively, to chase Bruin starter Charlie Patterson.

Patterson (5-1) exited after allowing four earned runs on nine hits in 4.2 innings of work.

Graham Cahill came on to throw 3.1 innings of scoreless relief but Bellevue managed just one base-runner, a one-out walk drawn by Riley Baasch in the seventh, the rest of the way.

Game Two: BU 10, DSU 0

Corey Jackson struck out 13 in a two-hit shutout while the Bruin offense pounded out seven extra-base hits, including home runs by Chaz Lopez, Cody Banks, and Nic Metcalf in a 10-0 victory.

Lopez opened the scoring with a two-run shot in the second and Alec Lee made it 3-0 with an RBI-double later in the frame.

Banks led off a three-run fifth with a solo home run before the Bruins added runs on a squeeze play and a wild pitch.

In the seventh, Metcalf added to the Bruin lead with a three-run home run and Lee completed the scoring with another RBI-double.

Jackson improved to 6-2 with the win for Bellevue while Kahlil Tilbury fell to 1-1 after suffering the loss.
