Knapp picks up third NSAA Pitching honor

MADISON, S.D. -- Bellevue University senior right-hander Stephen Knapp (Huntington Beach, Calif.) was named the North Star Athletic Association's Pitcher of the Week by the league office for his performance last week.

The honor is the third of the season for Knapp, who also received NSAA Pitcher of the Week honors on Mar. 4 and Mar. 11.

This past week, Knapp fired a complete game, four-hit shutout in the Bruins' 13-0 series-opening win at Valley City State on Saturday. He struck out 10 batters and issued just two walks as he recorded his third shutout and sixth complete game of the season. Knapp led Bellevue pitchers with 16 scoreless innings during BU's run of 41.2 innings without conceding a run during league play.

Knapp is 4-0 with a 0.28 ERA over his last four starts which includes three shutouts in four complete game efforts. He's recorded 23 strikeouts and issued just three walks during a span of 32.0 innings while posting a WHIP of 0.72 and limiting opponents to just a .180 batting average.

On the season, Knapp is now 6-2 with a 2.44 ERA and a 37:5 strikeout-to-walk ratio over 55.1 innings on the hill.

Bellevue has won 15 of their last 16 games to improve to 22-14 (11-1 NSAA) for the season. The Bruins host Dakota State (3-21 | 1-11 NSAA) tomorrow at Bellevue East High School's Don Roddy Field for a double-header, scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m.
