BELLEVUE, Neb. -- Senior Osvaldo Gonzalez and sophomore Stephan Meyer were recognized as Midlands Collegiate Athletic Conference Player and Pitcher of the Week, respectively, as announced by the conference. The awards are the first in each player's Bellevue University career.

Gonzalez had a career-day against Midland, registering four doubles in four plate appearances. He totaled five doubles on the week to push his NAIA-leading total to 21 through 33 games for the Bruins. On the week Gonzalez posted a triple slash line of .533/.563/.867 (AVG/SLG/OBP) while driving in four runs to lead the Bruins to a 4-1 record on the week.

Meyer was dominant with a complete-game four-hitter in which he struck out nine as Bellevue defeated York, 2-0, to clinch a series win against the Panthers. The hard-throwing righty retired 13 Panthers in order heading into the ninth and eight of his nine strikeouts were York batters caught looking.

The Bruins, ranked 15th nationally, currently stand at 26-7 overall and sit atop the MCAC standings with a 6-2 record in league play to date. Bellevue returns to the diamond tomorrow with a 4:00 p.m. tilt at Briar Cliff.
