Mullins highlights NAIA all-Nebraska team

Junior third baseman Nate Mullins was named the honorary captain of the Omaha World-Herald all-Nebraska baseball team as four Bruins earned first team honors. 

Mullins was joined by senior right-handed pitcher Kody McFarland, senior catcher Ryan Knutz and senior outfielder/pitcher Tanner Moore on the first team. 

Brian Embery, Robert Greco, Kyle Kinman, and Andy Smolinski all earned honorable mention accolades. 

Mullins earned first team NAIA All-American honors and was selected the 2013 Midlands Collegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Year while leading the Bruins with a .387 batting average, 67 hits, 50 RBIs, nine home runs, and a .613 slugging percentage. 

McFarland, who earned first-team all-MCAC honors, finished the season with a 7-2 record and a 2.16 ERA while striking out 91 batters in 75 innings pitched. 

Knutz earned first-team all-MCAC recognition while batting .288 with a team-leading 15 doubles. He added four home runs and 37 RBIs while starting all 56 games. 

Moore is a two-time first team all-MCAC selection and was also named to the MCAC Gold Glove Team. He batted .311 on the season with 12 doubles, two triples, three home runs and 32 RBIs. 

The 2013 Bruins finished with a 45-10-1 record, winning the MCAC regular season with a 21-3 overall mark, advancing to the NAIA National Tournament for the third-straight year.
