CLAREMORE, Okla. -- Lyon College's Ben Neyen tossed a three-hitter as the Scots shut out the Bellevue University baseball team, 3-0, in BU's first game of the NAIA Baseball National Championship Opening Round at the Diamond Sports Complex.

Bellevue (44-9-1) will play Midland University at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 10, in an elimination game. Midland lost to the host school Rogers State, 8-4, in the first game of the tournament.

The Scots used RBI singles by Roger Glaude and Will Lindsey to take a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the second.

Nate Mullins provided the Bruins' first base hit with a single to deep right-center field in the top of the fifth. He was sacrificed to second by Ryan Knutz, before Neyen ended the threat after forcing two-straight ground outs.

Lyon added a third run in the bottom of the seventh on consecutive two-out doubles by Kris Kohlstedt and Wesley Roberson to push the LC lead to 3-0.

Beau Dahmen registered BU's second hit of the game in the top of the ninth with a single to shallow left-center field. After Kyle Kinman's infield single gave the Bruins' two base runners for the first time and the tying run at the plate, Neyen secured the win, striking out Tanner Moore to end the game.

Neyen scattered three hits with eight strikeouts and no walks in nine innings of work. Kody McFarland (7-2) suffered the loss, allowing eight hits and three runs with six strikeouts and no walks in eight innings on the mound.
