Baseball falls at No. 7 Embry-Riddle, 4-2

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- Despite outhitting seventh-ranked Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, 6-5, the No. 17-ranked Bellevue University baseball team fell, 4-2, Sunday night at Silwa Stadium in the first of a two-game series with the Eagles. 

The Bruins will wrap-up the series on Monday (March 4) at 5:00 p.m. (CST).

Nate Mullins paced the Bruins at the plate, going 3-for-4 and scoring a run. He doubled in the second inning and singled in the fourth and seventh frames. 

Robert Greco had a no-hitter going through three innings, but the Eagles scored three runs in the fourth on four hits, while adding an insurance run in the fifth. 

The Bruins battled back with two runs in the top of the seventh started by a bases-loaded walk by Andy Smolinski that forced Eagle starter Brian Johnson to be replaced by Eric Green. Green notched two strikeouts, but a groundout RBI by Kyle Kinman drew Bellevue to within two runs at 4-2. 

ERAU struck out five Bruins over the final two innings to secure the win. 

Greco (2-1) suffered the loss, scattering five hits, with seven strikeouts and two walks over seven innings of work.
