Kansas City, Mo. - Bellevue University outfielder Tanner Moore has been named a 2013 preseason NAIA Baseball All-American announced today. The 17-member team was selected by the NAIA-Baseball Coaches Association (NAIA-BCA) All-America Committee.
Moore, who was named the MCAC Player of the Year, hit .388 with 51 runs scored, 20 doubles, two triples, six home runs, 51 RBIs and nine stolen bases in 2012.
Headlining the team are a trio of 2012 First Team All-Americans in LSU Shreveport (La.) outfielder Kyle Pearson, designated hitter Corey Davis of Lee (Tenn.) and Robert Morris (Ill.) pitcher Rey Rodriguez.
Additionally, five second team award winners - Art Corona of Tabor (Kan.), Chad Gaskin of Purdue-North Central (Ind.), Tanner Moore of Bellevue (Neb.), Tyler Arthur of Georgetown (Ky.) and Chad Richie of Georgetown - were selected to the preseason squad. The remainder of the preseason squad is made up of nine honorable mentions from last season.
The 2012 Bruins finished with a 40-21 overall record, winning the MCAC regular season with a 17-3 mark, advancing to the NAIA National Tournament for the second-straight year.
