POINT LOOKOUT, Mo. -- Bellevue University baseball players Dusty Kerns and Grant Mason have been named this week's Midlands Collegiate Athletic Conference's Player and Pitcher of the Week for the week ending on April 8.
A native of Lewiston, Idaho, Kerns hit .400 last week with five runs scored, three doubles, one home run and 10 RBIs as the Bruins posted a 4-1 record. In the Bruins' 16-7 win over Dakota State University on April 7, he went 2-for-3 with two doubles and four RBIs.
Mason did not allow an earned run over 9.1 innings of work last week, while giving up just five hits. Against Doane College on April 2, he allowed just two hits in 7.0 innings and struck out five batters in a no-decision. He recorded a save in Bellevue's win over DSU.
The Bruins have won 11 of their last 12 games and are currently 26-13 overall and 7-1 in league play. BU will play at Morningside College on Tuesday, April 10 for a 4:00 p.m. nine-inning gane,
