McFarland, Thompson grab MCAC honors
The Bellevue University baseball team swept the weekly Midlands Collegiate Athletic Conference honors with junior right-hander Kody McFarland earning MCAC Pitcher of the Week honors and senior first basemen/designated hitter Brandon Thompson gaining MCAC Player of the Week accolades. 

McFarland, who earned his second-straight MCAC Pitcher of the Week nod, tossed a five-hit complete game shutout and struck out 15 batters in the Bruins 3-0 nine-inning shutout over Central Baptist College on March 23. McFarland did not allow a walk, while improving to 5-2 on the season. 

Thompson hit .389 on the week with three home runs, nine RBIs and 16 total bases while posting an .889 slugging percentage. In the Bruins' 9-5 win over Central Baptist, Thompson went 3-for-5 with a grand slam, while driving in seven total runs. He is currently riding an eight-game hitting streak. 

Bellevue (17-12) will head to Fremont, Neb. on Tuesday, March 27 for a 5 p.m. single nine-inning contest against Midland University.
