Ferguson signs with Bruins

BELLEVUE, Neb. -- The Bellevue University baseball program, under head coach Duane Monlux, has announced the signing of second baseman Devin Ferguson (Lacey, Wash./Centralia/North Thurston HS) to continue his academic and athletic career for the Bruins in 2013.

Ferguson played two seasons for head coach Rick Skinner at Centralia College where he batted .312 with nine doubles, one triple, 11 RBIs and 21 runs scored last season while being named a first team all-NWAACC West Region selection. As a freshman in 2011, he hit .276 including 10 doubles, two home runs, 20 RBIs and 19 runs.

"We are excited to have Devin joining our Bellevue baseball program," said Monlux. "He was a mainstay in Centralia's lineup for the past two seasons, putting up solid numbers in the NWAACC wood bat league. He is a physical player that we are looking forward to see on our team."

Ferguson joins Nate Mullins (Snohomish, Wash./Everett CC/Snohomish HS), Brian Embery (Emporia, Kan./Wayland Baptist/Lower Columbia/Auburn HS) and Kyle Kinman (Omaha, Neb./Butler CC/Northwest HS) in the 2013 signee class.

The 2012 Bruins finished with a 40-21 overall record, winning the MCAC regular season with a 17-3 mark, advancing the NAIA National Tournament for the second-straight year.
