LEWISTON, Idaho -- Senior left fielder Kelvin Nelson has been named to the 2012 Dakronics-NAIA Baseball Scholar-Athlete team in an announcement made today in conjunction with the Avista NAIA World Series.
A total of 259 student-athletes were named to the list.
Nominated by each institution's head coach, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and have achieved junior academic status to qualify.
In addition to his academic honors, Nelson was also named to the 2012 MCAC Gold Glove team as well as the all-MCAC second team.
The 2012 Bruins finished with a 40-21 overall record, winning the MCAC regular season with a 17-3 mark, advancing the NAIA National Tournament for the second-straight year.
